Five Generations of Cork Innovation Since 1868

WE Cork represents more than just a flooring company—it embodies over 150 years of cork craftsmanship passed down through the Wicander family. The story begins in 1868 when August Wicander revolutionized cork manufacturing in Sweden, establishing a legacy of quality and innovation that would span generations.

In 1975, Hjalmar “Lalle” Wicander, a fourth-generation cork expert, brought that legacy to the United States by founding WE Cork in Exeter, New Hampshire. What started as a small supplier of cork underlayment soon evolved into one of America’s most trusted names in natural flooring and wall coverings.

Today, WE Cork continues to honor that tradition—combining timeless materials with modern design and sustainable practices.
